Céiron Wars - Launch Trailer

I made some models of this trailer such as sword, monuments, some buildings of external scene and tables, chest, books, fireplace, wall-clock etc. of internal scene.

I modelled and textured the eye. Flesh part was modelled in Mudbox and normal map was created from highres model to speed up rendering time.

DeLorean Time Machine (Back to the Future) Mod for Crysis

This is DeLorean time machine from Back to the Future I. Screenshots and videos were taken from CryEngine 2's (Crysis: Warhead) Sandbox 2 editor. It is playable in Crysis and Crysis Wars.

Just like in movies, the car has ability to make time travel. When car's speed reaches 88MPH it changes map's time randomly. If you want to see the famous flame marks, turn time circuits on while car's speed faster than 88MPH and get out of the car. DeLorean's speed will decelerate and when it's speed reaches 88MPH, DeLorean will jump in time without you. Then you can call it by sending an intertime signal to your DeLorean.

Modeling, texturing and animations made by me, programming (flow graph) is made by me and CryMod member Thomas Jacobs (Jaco_E). For full credits and information please read DeLorean_Readme.rtf inside the package.

Note: During development I used Vimeo to upload videos. But after huge interest to final video Vimeo remevod the videos because mod videos are forbidden to upload. YouTube is closed in my country because of some stupid laws, I can access it but it is still problematic. So that's why i choosed Vimeo and that's why somebodies else uploaded this video to other sites. Next time I will focus on this more seriously.

Futbol Arena

This was the project that I worked when I entered Céidot. It is a multiplayer soccer game. Every player has a team and player can purchase cloths for his team, train it and improve it with XPs that earned from every match. But the project was cancelled.

Graphic engine is Ogre. Everything was done in Max and oFusion plug-in was used for exporting. Also ShaderFX plug-in was used for some shader work.

Test Project for Céidot

This is the test project that I made for Céidot.

They wanted me to make an arena that contains a futsal pitch. They said there is no limitation on concept, do whatever you want. They just gave poly and texture limits. So I decided to make something unusual, something different from what I made before. I already made a city environment, an helicopter etc. What I didn't made before (except some experimentations) were organic like things. So I decided to make sculptures to show my abilities about max-mudbox workflow and normal mapping. To make the level more intresting, I made it under the sea. It's not a great level but it shows my modeling and texturing abilities well enough I think.

Anyway here are the renders:

Also I made a lightmap for the level. I used Max' Metal Bump 9 shader but didn't able to show all models' shaders at same time (some strange triangles appear) so I have to isolate model from the scene to show it with DX shader.

By the way, used programs are 3ds Max, Photoshop, Mudbox and Crazy Bump. I used photos as resource for textures, mainly. I took more than 250 photos for this. Every surface has at least diffuse and normal map.

Well, this is not a portfolio entry but very important news for me. I finished university and took a job as an artist and level designer at Céidot Game Studios :)

Thanks to my family, my pals Serkan and Hakan. Without their help and support I wouldn't be here.

The company is in Ankara so I moved to Ankara from Izmir. I can't add my works here for now, maybe after the game is released.

Tribometer (10.2008)

I made this video for my theacher. He wanted me to make an animation to introduce this machine on university's lab web site.

This machine measures surface properties of materials in different contitions.

Thesis Experiment (06.2008)

Purpose of the thesis was depositing calcium phosphate compounds on 316L stainless steel by galvanostatic electrochemical deposition method, then analyzing the morphology and chemical characterization of coatings. These metals will be used as an implant in human body. Even stainless steel can corrode in human body. Therefore we made these coatings to give strength against corrosion and good biocompatibility to metal.Slayt 3

Thanks to my pal, Hakan Tansug. Without his help and support, I couldn't complate this thesis.

Shock Absorber (01.2008)

I made this animation for a presentation of a group project. We designed shock absorber's piston for design and material selection lesson.

The car model was downloaded from Area3D creative lab. I modeled the shock absorber, tire connections and basic chasis. It's not 100% technically correct, just for demostrate how shock absorber connects to chasis, tire and other parts of the suspension system.

Another architectural job for RTA.

This scene was a challenge for me and my computer because it was very big (almost 3,5 million polygons). At the end of the project, I had to upgrate my system to 4GB RAM and Windows Vista 64bit to render it because 2GB RAM wasn't enough.

So, it was a little bit hard and long process but fortunately I finished it before the deadline at 3.00 (morning). Thanks to Windows Vista x64 (wow, I didn't imagine I could even say that :P ).

This is my parent's kitchen. I measured every part of it and recreated in Max. I changed (I put an LCD instead of CRT :) ) and added a few things but almost 95% is original.

I changed the scene to speed up rendering time. It took about 1,5 week to render at high settings (not nonstop). I used Combustion for compositing and a few post works.

I know, there are no pilots. Let's say, it's an automatic pilot test flight :)

Combine Helicopter (Hunter-Chopper)

I loved the design when I saw this helicopter in Half-Life 2. After 2 years I decided to make my own in high res.

I wanted to be faithful to original design as much as possible. But I had to change and add some things. For example: landing gears, cockpit, bomb dropper at back side and an automatic turret (almost same turret from HL2) under the right wing and couple of small things.

I made the helicopter in 2006 and the scene in 2007. The place is 4th train station of City 17 so it is heavily guarded.

Most of the scene materials are procedural. I used 2-3 b&w dirt textures to make them dirty. For clouds, I used Master Zap's sky texture from his blog.

I know it's design is very unusual and hard to understand the shape at first time. That's why I liked it.

I know there are some parts should be improved but I had almost no time. The cliend called me 2 days before the deadline and I finished it 8 minutes before the deadline :)

Old Stuff (First Attempts) and a Little Bit About Me

I'm studying on metallurgy and material engineering at Dokuz Eylul University. But I always want to learn 3D. Post production of movies, especially game development are always in my interest. I love playing games, mostly FPS and action games. So why didn't I study on these? In my country, if you have interests like these, you have to develop yourself by your own. Things started to change now but not much.

These are my first 3D attempts. I started with Adobe Dimensions 3 (2002). I made more but my HDD was death, so these are the ones I could save. Building, tank and F15 was made for an amateur 2D RTS game. After a few tries with my friend, we decided to make it 3D. He was the programmer and I was the artist. We had a LOT of things to learn so we started to improve ourselves.

So I decided to learn AutoCAD and 3ds Max. I know, 3D modeling is really hard in AutoCAD but I thought it would be useful for my university studies and it could be a good start for more technical 3D modeling (I mean CAD/CAM). Anyway, about 2 months later, I meat with 3ds Max and I fall in love with it :P These are modeled in AutoCAD (2003), rendered with 3ds Max (2004).

Then I studied on Max (still I'm studying on it:) ). But this didn't effect my school life very well :) Anyway, here are some of my other attempts. In those years I didn't have internet connection at home, so I downloaded a lot of tutorials from web at university and brought them home, studied on those. I didn't want to create something that already created. I studied on a tutorial until I learned what I want. So they are incomplate (2003-2004). You can view some of them here:
